I Don’t Like You: Do You Know Why?

Introduction

In human relationships, there are many reasons behind liking or disliking someone. However, one of the most significant reasons is when someone gets to know us completely. When the masks we wear are stripped away and someone sees our flaws, we instinctively begin to dislike them. We witness this phenomenon daily in our relationships, friendships, and companionships.

The Fear of Being Known
A person remains my friend or companion as long as they only know my virtues. But the moment they discover my mistakes, they become my enemy in my eyes. This is because their presence serves as a constant reminder of my own flaws. Every time I look at them, I am reminded of the mistakes I’ve made.
The Basis of Opposition
"I will oppose whatever you support." When we dislike someone, even the truths they speak taste bitter to us. A blind stubbornness clings to us, driving us to oppose anything they endorse, regardless of its merit.
The Fall of the False Image
If someone who knows our faults is nearby, we can no longer continue to pretend to be 'perfect.' The mind believes that by pushing away the person who put an end to our acting, we can once again resume our web of lies.
Conclusion
In reality, disliking someone who knows our mistakes is simply an expression of the fact that we do not like ourselves. Those who change themselves for the sake of others are ultimately afraid to face their own true image.
